Opt⚙City ®-Quality Crystal & Optical Components
TGG (Terbium Gallium Garnet) single crystal is currently the best and widely used magneto-optical material in Faraday rotator and isolator due to its extremely high Verdet constants in the range of 400nm-1100nm(excluding 475-500 nm). By placing a rod of this material in a strong magnetic field, Faraday rotation angles of over 45° can be achieved. This allows the construction of Faraday rotators which are the principal component of Faraday isolators, devices which transmit light in only one direction.
Magneto Optical Glass / Faraday rotator glass materials Tb-10, Tb-12 and Tb-15 are designed for laser light flux output control in the magnetic field in visible and near-IR spectral range. It is used in manufacture of faraday rotating components based on Faraday rotation of the light polarization plane, such as optical isolators, circulators, magneto-optical modulators, fast optical switches, interleavers, laser gyroscopes, goniometric devices, magneto-optic storage and optical information process system, current measuring transducers for magnetic field measuring and high-voltage transmission line, new generation current sensors, wave guides, astrology, spaceflight control, satellite survey and other functional devices. TG-28 is characterized by a high verdet constant and a lower nonlinear refractive index to avoid selffocusing in high power laser system.
