Beam samplers are Fresnel reflections to pick-off 1-10% of the incident beam at 45deg. They are typically used for monitoring applications where the attenuation of the transmitted beam must be kept to a minimum. The backside is wedged to eliminated internal interference fringes and AR coated to remove ghosting.
Like beam sampler, but the first surface is coated so as to get 10% to 90% of the incident beam at 45deg. The T/R ratio of dielectric beamsplitting coating is partially polarization dependent, however the absorption loss to the coating is minimal. Special design can be made for polarization independent beamsplitter.
